Comments From A Satisfied Customer

The sport of pigeon racing can be one of the most satisfying activities that a person loving of animals can have. At the same time it can be a frustrating enterprise. For those that do not take it seriously, it will never bring the satisfaction of having consistent winning birds. For those that take it too seriously it can be an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. The reasons for the most part, are the intrinsic variables within the sport itself. Not only from the standpoint of the quality of the pigeons themselves but also from the quality of the information available that can keep you the fancier from looking in the correct direction causing confusion and distress. To that effect some call it a game of luck.

I believe that a balance can be established that will allow anyone to have enough fun and emotion to warrant that a fancier continue enjoying this sport for many years, even if his birds have not performed at a high level for him. One of the things that I use to have continued satisfaction is the learning process, "the tool of knowledge". Keeping the learning curve going up at a steady pace will keep us interested and occupied and in addition will allow us to cope with our daily defeats, knowing that we can overcome them tomorrow. In my personal search for more wisdom and better pigeons I came upon the website of one very dynamic and intense individual that in my view is various steps ahead of the crowd. His name is Bill "The Book" Richardson. Many of you may have seen that Bill offered several of his Horemans pigeons up for sale on his website last year. Because of Bill's reputation as a selector and a breeder, I contacted him by email to gain some information about the Horemans. With each passing email, I became more impressed with his knowledge and his willingness to spend time understanding my situation. As a result, I initially purchased two of these pigeons. He told me that these pigeons were probably going to be a little different than what I was used to, and when I received them, it didn't take much to see that they were smarter and more active than the other pigeons in the loft. After observing them for several months, I decided to up the ante and purchase four more of these excellent pigeons.

Every step of the way, Bill was there to help me with my decision. When I told him that I wanted to purchase more pigeons, Bill asked me if I was going to build around these pigeons or if I intended to use them as crosses. When I asked why, he informed me that crosses just needed to be good pigeons and didn't necessarily need to be compatible with each other as much as they needed to be compatible with other pigeons, whereas if this was going to be the nucleus of a family, it was critical that they were compatible with one another. When I told him that they were going to be the nucleus of my loft, he selected them that way and paired them for me. The satisfaction that I receive today out of my birds takes me back to when I was a boy, and that is a good feeling. I couldn't be happier with Bill's help or the quality of pigeons that I received, and I would highly recommend his expertise and his pigeons to others.
